SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE
WM. DONALD CLIFTON II

Delaware Secretary of Agriculture Don CliftonIn January 2025, Wm. Donald Clifton II was appointed by Governor Matthew S. Meyer as Delaware’s Secretary of Agriculture. Clifton most recently served as Executive Director of the Delaware Farm Bureau. Previously, Clifton served as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency under Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. He was a co-chair for the Agriculture and Biotechnology Committee of Governor Ruth Ann Minner’s Strategic Economic Council. He also was appointed to serve on the Governor’s Energy Advisory Council (GEAC) by Governor John Carney.

The Clifton family farm in Sussex County has produced grains, soybeans, beef, and processing vegetables for four generations. Don Clifton is a lifelong farmer and steward of the lands with a practical commitment to agriculture’s environmental legacy.

DEPUTY SECRETARY
JIMMY KROON

In January 2026, Jimmy Kroon was appointed Deputy Secretary after heading the DDA’s Planning division for two years. Kroon started his DDA career in 2003, working with various divisions, including Plant Industries, the Office of the Secretary and the Aglands Preservation Foundation.

 

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL ASSISTANT
GEORGE CLASS-PETERS

George Class-Peters began his tenure with the Delaware Department of Agriculture in 2022 as the Deputy Principal Assistant. Before joining the Department, George worked for his alma mater, the University of Delaware, where he earned an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Health. George’s connection to agriculture has spanned over a decade, as he was engaged in agriscience education at the Smyrna School District. He has served the Delaware FFA Association as a state officer and the National Chairman of the National Officer Nominating Committee at the National FFA Organization. George solidified his passion for agricultural education, leadership, and policy through his work in these roles. With various experiences and connections involving members of Delaware’s General Assembly and the Congressional delegation, he strives to work closely with these all to ensure equitable policy and programs are sustained for Delaware’s top industry.

 

ADMINISTRATOR FOR DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT LISA WILDERMUTH

Lisa brings more than 30 years of leadership and executive-level administrative knowledge in financial services and state government. Her career reflects a strong history of operational excellence, organizational leadership, and strategic coordination at the highest levels of public service.

Lisa spent 13 years with Bank of America, where she held several management positions, including Quality Manager. In these roles, she led operational performance initiatives, strengthened quality assurance programs, and managed cross-functional teams focused on efficiency and service delivery.

She then served two years with the Division of Corporations as a direct report to the Administrator. During this time, she played a key role in executive coordination and represented the division in high-level engagements, including the ESPC Conference in partnership with the Secretary of State’s Office.

Lisa dedicated 18 years as Executive Secretary to the Cabinet Secretary, serving under Governors Ruth Ann Minner, Jack Markell, John Carney, and currently, Governor Matt Myer. In this capacity, she provided strategic executive support, ensured continuity of operations across administrations, and managed complex communications, scheduling, and policy coordination functions at the cabinet level.

In 2024, Lisa was appointed by Secretary Michael T. Scuse as Administrator for Department Management. In this executive leadership role, she oversees Section Administrators and Program Managers and provides direct oversight as the Department Data Steward, Information Security Officer (ISO), and Information Resource Management (IRM) functions.

Her portfolio includes leadership of facility projects and upgrades along with building and facility management and serving as the department’s Continuity of Operations (COOP) Lead. She acts as liaison to the Department of Technology and Information (DTI), including oversight collaboration as Data Steward, ISO, and IRM functions.

Lisa manages the departments fleet operations, and leads internal communications, including operational policy and facility management updates.

Lisa is recognized for her steady leadership, institutional knowledge, operational accuracy, and ability to navigate complex governmental environments with professionalism and discretion.
