Pest Identification

The Department of Agriculture can help you to identify various pests that can affect your livestock, trees, and home, at no cost. These services include:
The Poultry and Animal Health section provides information about livestock & poultry diseases, affecting livestock and poultry.

PLEASE NOTE: Issues concerning “wild animals” are handled by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Division of Fish and Wildlife.

The Poultry and Animal Health staff is also able to assist with questions regarding rabies in animals.
Identification of residential pests (bedbugs, termites, carpenter ants, rodents, etc.) are handled by the Pesticides section. Pesticide staff members will help identify the residential pest, and can also provide a list of companies and products registered in Delaware to treat these pests.
The Forest Service staff can help diagnose tree health problems concerning your yard trees or woodlands.

If you find a swarm of bees on your property that need removal, there are beekeepers in each county that can come and safely remove the swarm.
